No single contraceptive method fits everyone — the right choice depends on medical history, cost, and whether permanent or reversible protection is preferred. Hormonal options (pills, injections, IUS) offer 98–99% effectiveness but do not protect against STDs. Non-hormonal options include condoms (90% effective and also protects against STD) and copper IUDs (98% effective and hormone-free). For those who are certain they do not wish to have more children, permanent sterilisation offers over 99% effectiveness but is generally irreversible.
Contraception Options
There are many forms of contraceptives available. As every woman’s health and preferences are unique, there is no “one size fits all” approach when it comes to contraception.
Women have many reasons for seeking contraception. Contraception allows women to choose when to have a baby. Responsible contraceptive practices also help to reduce unwanted pregnancies and abortions. Factors to consider include existing medical conditions, cost, whether one prefers permanent or temporary/reversible contraception, and so on.
